Two More Books!

The Chihuahuas and the Labradoodles have been released. Next week, we are finishing up two requests for Beagles and Chow Chows before we venture off to other animals. We have received requests for cats and wild animals of the Northwest - two weeks from now should be interesting.

You can find all the Dog Lovers Coloring Books on Amazon by clicking here . And, if you have purchased, please leave a review on Amazon - the algorithms on that site emphasize reviews. Thanks.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

So, last week we reviewed at a high level how to use Midjourney to generate images. This week we are going to combine Midjourney with ChatGPT to start to create our coloring book pages.

First, what is a chatbot? We have all texted family and friends through your favorite texting application. These conversations are usually relatively fast paced, and most companies have incorporated "chat" into the support areas of their websites. Up until recently, it was required for the chatbot to be programmed to anticipate any response or question, and provided a "canned" answer to each message. I don't know about you, but I was never a fan of these and always wanted to text - or speak - to a person rather than a bot.

Although there have been other technologies, in the last 6 months ChatGPT from OpenAI has taken technology and the internet by storm. ChatGPT has been trained to understand your request and provide an appropriate response without programming. It has memory, so that you do not have to repeat yourself to give ChatGPT all the background information every time. And this training incorporates "all" information stored on the internet to prior to 2021! Unless this information has been on secure sites, ChatGPT has used it for its "machine learning".

You can use ChatGPT with a free account. Just go to ChatGPT , and if you do not have an account you will be prompted to set up an OpenAI account. OpenAI is one of the leaders in this new world of AI. Once you have started an account and logged in (sometimes ChatGPT is too busy and will not let you login... in just a short three months it has approximately 100 million users!). Be patient and when it is available your screen will look like this:

Hard to read, but this screen consists of three areas. On the left are previous sessions that you have had with ChatGPT. If you want to talk to ChatGPT about something you have discussed in the past, start with the previous session, as you have trained ChatGPT by your specific requests. The middle section is just documentation that explains at a high level what you can do with ChatGPT. But the magic starts in the text box at the bottom. This is where you enter your question.

To start, let's use my example of creating a chihuahua coloring book. In the text box at the bottom, I will type the following statement:

"I am interested in creating a coloring book using Midjourney to create the pages. I will be using chihuahuas as the breed of dog for all of the book. What are some characteristics about chihuahuas that might be interesting to know as background."

And then I hit Enter or Return on my keyboard. Watch what happens by clicking on this YouTube link . The link should open in a new tab, then you will need to come back here.

To truly understand the magic, I need to explain a little more how ChatGPT works. The response that ChatGPT created was NOT provided by a programmer. ChatGPT "read" my question and generated the response word-for-word, based on its training! It predicts the next word in its response based on my question, what it has previously written, and the next logical word in that progression.

My next question to ChatGPT was this:

"That is great. Thanks. I am going to try to create 31 coloring book pages of chihuahuas that would be interesting to color. Can you please provide me 31 ideas for chihuahua coloring book pages?"

Here is its response - too large for one picture but you get the idea.

Not all of these are good ideas, and as you know from surfing the web you do not always receive good information. I will talk more about that next week.

So now, I take the coloring page recommendations back into MidJourney with some secret sauce to tell Midjourney exactly what I want, and I receive responses that look like this.

In this case, I did not Upscale any of them as I did not like the eyes. So I clicked the blue button on the right to generate more images until I found ones that looked great. Then I Upscaled them and added them to my Chihuahua Coloring Book folder. After I had 31 or more pictures, I started to create the coloring book. Since creating the book is not AI, I will leave that to your imagination.

That is how a person with no artistic eye can create coloring book images using AI.

Thanks and I'll be back next week with two new releases and a deeper dive into ChatGPT, the pros and cons, as well as perhaps some new tools that are entering the market at an incredible pace.!
